Module description and context

This module will focus on international commercial law practitioners with a view to developing the legal skills necessary to work in the field of international commercial law. Students will develop a practice-based understanding of skills such as advocacy, research, negotiating, briefing and advising. This module is designed to prepare students for the world of international commercial law in action as practitioners in the field.

Module learning outcomes

1. Compare, contrast and critically evaluate the different type of skills used by different actors involved in international commercial law work; 

2. Learn and apply the main skills and strategies used for international commercial law work such as capacity-building, advocacy and raising awareness on key issues of international commercial law;  

3. Acquire an extensive comprehension of debating tools such as lobbying, advocacy, reporting and fundraising in international commercial law fora, the court and ADR contexts; 


4. Identify, differentiate and apply the different techniques to document and report on breaches of contract and international commercial regulations;

5. Debate effectively and critically on key issues of international commercial regulations and apply the outcome to their research, writing of legal documents and policy briefs and oral presentation.
