Welcome to the Building Learning Communities for Pupils and Practitioners module, which is a 20-credit optional module within the MA in Education Leadership and Management (ELM) programme of study.

The module offers opportunities to consider how principles and practices of social justice might be enacted through the work of leaders in their local educational contexts. Students will develop an understanding of how tools and concepts from challenging thinkers such as Paolo Freire, bell hooks and Michel Foucault might support critical reflection on a range of educational contexts

This course will provide an overview of statistical methods and approaches for social science research. We will begin by focusing on descriptive statistics, defining them and determining how to use them to explain data, interpret variables and emphasize the broader significance of a study. We will then introduce Stata and SPSS as computational tools for analyzing datasets and conducting statistical tests.
