This module supports new Theology students in developing the necessary skills (and virtues) necessary for a rewarding learning experience. We address academic reading and writing, character development, using the online systems (library, Moodle, Turnitin) as well as the actual library. Accurate referencing is addressed in some detail, and we spend a day working on our presentation skills as well.

General module information (year-long)
This module provides resources and workshops designed to train students in the academic skills needed for researching and writing their MA dissertation in Religion and Theology. It is complemented by the Research Skills Seminar Series, attendance of which is part of the course. A successful MA dissertation requires a high degree of personal motivation and individual study. You should use the links and resources listed here to extend your studies beyond the scheduled workshop sessions since this will help you to acquire skills such as essay writing, compiling bibliographies, using referencing and quotations, reading and analysing texts and conducting empirical research.
