The module aims to examine the important psychological subfields in relationships and identities, both integral to understanding the interface and interactions between individuals and the social world particularly. The nature of these areas, their development, investigations and contextual or practical implications and potential interventions will be discussed and evaluated.

In this module of the MSc, students will be introduced to a number of HRM specialist roles and responsibilities which may assist in planning their future career pathways. The student will consider the role of the HR professional, and the expertise and skills needed to be effective in their roles in their specific specialisation. Students will also consider the implications of recent research findings in the field of specialist human resource management for their own practice, for example in increasing levels of engagement and improving performance, in acting ethically and in managing change. The module will compare this with the practice of HR specialist professionals in other contexts, drawing on case studies and the experience of fellow students working in different geographical areas and sectors.
Students will develop and practise the skills they will need to be effective as a HR specialist professional, including as a leader and a senior manager. These include self-management, leading and working in teams, making decisions, managing, and communicating information, including financial information, consultancy skills and helping others to learn. The module will provide international students with a core set of skills which will enable them to become proficient in academic reading, writing, speaking and listening. For many, it will be an introduction to academic texts, academic language and referencing. They will take part in lectures, seminars, group work and structured academic writing to allow them to practise the necessary academic skills needed for their future programmes. They will develop critical thinking skills through tasks such as text analysis and in-session group discussion tasks and the ability to construct coherent academic assignments, including written essays and presentation work. They will become familiar with key academic skills and concepts such as referencing methods, awareness of academic integrity and academic tone and register and have the opportunity to apply these skills and knowledge to both generic topics initially and also to their own chosen subject pathway. The class will allow for opportunities to practice and develop spoken and written English skills, within an academic context. They will be guided in assignment organisation, structure, style and content so they are able to apply these skills across subjects and modules in their undergraduate degree.

The aim of this module is to provide you with an introduction to the topic of organisational behaviour which is vital in understanding how contemporary businesses operate. This module will help you in understanding how organisations have developed and to consider how they may look in the future. You will also explore what influences people’s behaviour when working independently, as part of a team and in the wider organisation. There is a particular emphasis on managing and leading people in businesses and you will explore your own approach to leadership, identifying what skills you should develop in order to become a successful manager. This module is useful in helping you to understand the important role of people within the organisation and how their performance impacts on other areas of business, such as Finance, that you will also study on this programme.
Beginning this module by exploring the global workplace, you will consider some of the key issues that affect businesses long-term success and their impact on the wider environment. The ethics session will encourage you to consider what is ‘right’ and the important role you have in shaping the future of business. Students will be encouraged and supported in developing a critical mindset and in questioning their own values and attitudes.
As a student on this module, you will be encouraged via group work and class discussions to share your own experiences and reflections on global workplaces. EDI will also be explored within the areas of organisational behaviour and leadership and management. We will explore racial and gender biases that may exist in the research and theories and consider how this can affect our idea of ‘best practice’. You will also be introduced to the topic of Ethics in Business and the importance and value for both the individual and the organisation of ‘doing the right thing’. As future senior managers, you will reflect on your own skills and competencies, identifying the skills and knowledge that you need to develop and advance your career as a successful leader. You will become familiar with key aspects of leadership and management that will enhance your understanding of business and help you to progress on your chosen master's programme.
You will begin this module by exploring the global workplace context and consider some of the key issues that affect businesses long-term success and their impact on the wider environment. Issues concerning staffing organisations and the on-going challenges of skills and labour shortages will be addressed. The ethics session will encourage you to consider what is ‘right’ and the important role that you have in shaping the future of business. You will be encouraged and supported in developing a critical mindset and in questioning your own values and attitudes.
As an international student, you will be encouraged via group work and class discussions to share your own experiences and reflections on global workplaces. EDI will also be explored within the framework of people management and we will consider how equality law and practice varies in countries across the world. You will explore how there is no one single ‘best’ approach to leadership and management and this is determined by the environment and circumstances. This module will introduce you to the topic of ethics in business and the importance and value of ‘doing the right thing’. A variety of teaching and assessment methods will be used to ensure that your differing learning styles are accounted for. Problem Solving with Computational Thinking aims to prepare students for degree-level work in Computer Science. The module focuses on key skills expected of students when they enter the degree-level programme. Computational Thinking focuses on how to solve problems via program development. The module initially builds students understanding of logic, before teaching students how to develop algorithms. The latter half of the module focuses on programming using a Visual Programming Language (VPL) such as Android App Inventor or Google’s Blockly. The module ends with a discussion on the limits of computation, including data representation and physical limitations.

The purpose of this module is to shift the emphasis of learning onto the students and apply subject-specific knowledge to one of the following contemporary topics: in(equality) or a protected characteristic. Students will need to demonstrate the ability to utilise the academic and subject-specific toolkit acquired through previous modules to manage their own learning, and in partnership with your tutors, negotiate, plan and carry out an investigation into the chosen topic. The module requires students to evidence readiness for entry into Level 4 of the degree programme through the e-portfolio which will contain a log of seminar activities.

This module invites you to take on the role of a video content creator, building on the skills acquired in Fundamentals of Photography. You will examine the dynamic world of social media as news, with a particular focus on the theme of "identity." You will explore the impact of distributed media, examining how non-professionals contribute to shaping new media practices through platforms like YouTube, TikTok and Instagram.
Throughout the module, you will critically engage with the history and implications of self-promotion on social media, analysing its influence on society and the efforts to address its challenges. In recent years, technological advancements and the digital revolution have fundamentally transformed marketing. Marketers now need to analyze, assess, and create marketing and data analytics strategies that align with the evolving needs of businesses.
You will also explore how the effectiveness of a marketing strategy largely hinges on the quality of decision-making. Rational and fact-based decision-making (FBDM) processes are anticipated to generate greater value for businesses. FBDM is a systematic activity that involves meticulously gathering and analyzing data from relevant sources to provide an unbiased critical analysis aimed at extracting facts. You will also gain understanding of the broader context, examining the market environment and evaluating how data can be interpreted, utilized, and presented meaningfully.

This module is designed for international students and as such, all topics will be explored within a global framework and for example, you will consider cultural factors that may impact marketing strategies. This module provides you, as an international student, with a core set of English skills to become proficient in academic reading, writing, speaking and listening whilst integrating successfully into London as a city, full of unique experiences with exciting social and cultural diversity.
Running through the academic year (for 3 terms), you will be able to establish your individual proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening and foster your learning within social, cultural and academic contexts. You will develop your understanding of London, its monuments, cultural institutions and city regions and improve your confidence in English language.
Each week in Term 1, you will both experience architecture, sculpture, painting and contemporary fashion, business and creative regions, and receive an introduction to academic texts, academic language and referencing relevant to UK higher education. In Term 2 & 3, you will develop your understanding of the character of the city, whilst you further develop the skills and experience to actively take part in workshops, visits, lectures, seminars, group work and academic writing, practising those abilities you will most benefit from for your future study. Through the programme, you will visit London's museums, commerce and lifestyle sites alongside less well-known sites, off the 'tourist trail'.
